Smithson Real Estate Company, LLC, founded by Joe Smithson in 1989, is a commercial real estate brokerage and development company specializing primarily in the development and management of investment properties in the metro Atlanta area.

The company has developed and re-positioned over 1 million square feet of industrial, office and retail space over the past ten years, of which 300,000 is still owned and managed by the company. At the present time, the company is creating a master use plan for 33 acres it owns fronting on I-985 just north of the Atlanta Falcons complex.

Born in Atlanta, Joe Smithson graduated from the Lovett School, attended SMU and graduated from the University of Georgia with a BBA in marketing. He received his broker's license in 1989. Joe is a member of the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta and ACE (Associated Community Enrichment). He is active with his church and is involved with several other civic and charitable organizations. He resides in Buckhead with his children West, Elise and Hoyte.
